Bronx Zoo: Gorilla Toddlers

We were so lucky to get to the Bronx Zoo: Congo before it was crowded.  We got a good close look at a gorilla's foot:

And I was struck by how much gorilla toddlers act like human ones.

Lane is often sitting on me like I'm a couch:

And if this is not classic, peaceful nursing toddler:

It seems tragic to keep these creatures in a zoo, but is there really space for them in the human world in the future?  Maybe we should reserve a huge area for animals... but would that last if humans needed the space?  Really, we humans have to get out shit together and make sure we don't ruin this planet for the other species.
